It's imperfect to have to bolster people's egos with a public announcement of who gave and how much. It's also imperfect to have to use peer pressure to get people to give more, or just to get caught up in the moment.<br /><br />But if ego massage ("I finished gantz shas!") and peer pressure get people to open a sefer, who am I to knock daf yomi?
